TV Pilot script MOTHER CHURCH is a QUARTERFINALIST

UPDATE 4/23/25 - I received notification that my pilot did not make it to the semifinals. Thanks for all the good wishes. I'll keep on keepin' on! — Hugh

Hi all-

Mother Church, my TV pilot script about 1950's country music (and America) in Nashville is in the quarterfinals of the Nashville Film Festival's screenwriting competition. I wrote the pilot from an idea for the series from my son, Lagan Sebert, who has worked to promote it for several years. It tells the tale of two young musicians from a small town in Georgia who come to Nashville with a new kind of music to take their chances with the Grand Ole Opry, the “mother church” of country music. One of them is black and one is white. What could possibly go wrong? Oh, and they share a secret that binds them to each other no matter what.

The festival is in September, but there will be updates along the way as the competition judging progresses. I'll let you know as I know.

Wish me luck!

See you down the road…

-Hugh
