“How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!” – Isaiah 14:12

            Lucifer means “The Morning Star” or “Light Bringer”. Why is this bad? If Lucifer is another name for Satan, it must be bad. 

            Here’s a thought. If early on there was only light, Lucifer would have been the supreme angel.

            Then God decided to divide a lot of the light into all the rest of creation. That means dirt, water, rocks, planets, stars, animals, and OMG people! These things are messy and complicated and often dirty, not pure and simple and clean like light.

            None of this is Lucifer’s thing. Now Lucifer would just be bringing light to this mess, so Lucifer got miffed. 

            Maybe that’s the source of Lucifer’s rebellion and antagony towards the world. Lucifer wants to Make the Universe Light Again (MULA?) by destroying everything in it, maybe with fire which does turn material things into a kind of light.

            In this interpretation Lucifer the Light Bringer is definitely not good for us.
