Old friend getting an Honorary Doctorate

Hi Everyone-

This time it's not about me (really).

Fine artist, George Grammer, who is about to turn 89 in October, is an old friend of my family from Fort Worth. He is also very dear to Mary and me and to my sister, Katy. We used to visit him and his amazing wife, June, in New Jersey and New York, when our children were young. June passed away since. They were a beautiful couple in all meanings of the term.

George still lives in Manhatten and is an active painter.  He is the last living member of a group of artists known as the Fort Worth Circle. Here's wikipedia on them:

On April 20, 2017, George will be in Fort Worth for the opening of a new exhibition of his paintings at Texas Wesleyan University, his alma mater. They will take the opportunity to bestow on him an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities. This is well-deserved and a wonderful recognition of a talented ambassador for the Texas art community to the whole world. Here is an article about this event:

If any of you are in Fort Worth this spring or summer, don't miss the exhibit! (or the opening on April 20 if you can make it!)

All the best,

-- Hugh
